A New Decor And More!

Our philosophy has always been “There’s no standing still in this business you’re either upgrading or falling behind!” All Winter long we’ve been busy improving The Winds continuing to transform the decor of a number of our rooms to the nostalgic beach cottage look that everyone fondly remembers.

We’ve heard many requests for more king beds and we’ve listened to you. We’ve switched our queen beds out for king size in our Azalea Suites and later this spring we will also be changing three bedrooms in each of our six bedroom cottages to one king bed in each bedroom to make them more family friendly. There will still be two doubles in each of the remaining three bedrooms in those cottages. Also six of our Camellia Guest Rooms will have one king bed in them. We’ve also transformed some of our two bedroom units to feature a king size bed with two doubles in the other room.

A number of kitchens and living areas in our suites have new cabinets and tile flooring. Also, our furniture, artwork and bedding are continually being updated to give us a more contemporary look. Also lots and lots of new paint!

We’ve also added a brand new treadmill to the fitness room. This, in addition to the new gym equipment we put in last year, offers all new equipment!  We’ve also resurfaced the indoor pool! Check out all of our improvements on your next visit!

New Wireless Internet

Perhaps one of the biggest improvements at The Winds is our new wireless internet system. We had many problems with our previous system and made the decision to start all over with a new system.  It has been in place since this past fall and our guests seem to be happy with the new system. We apologize to any guests who may have had a problem with the old system and hope they will be pleasantly surprised by our new WiFi!

Ocean Isle & Area Events

There’s a whole lot of good times to be had at the beach this year – festivals, a concert series, fishing and golf tournaments and more. Thirsti TikiBar & Restaurant Open!

We’ve been so busy this spring that we decided to go ahead and open Thirsti Tiki Bar & Restaurant earlier than we have in years past!

Current Hours of Operation are: 
Monday through Wednesday – 11 am to 2 pm
,Thursday thru Saturday – 11 am to 8 pm,
 Sunday – 11 AM to 4 PM
. The Thirsti Tiki will close during inclement weather!

Starting Memorial Day Weekend The Thirsti Tiki will be open every day from 11:00am until?… all Summer long! With the Thirsti Tiki Bar & Restaurant right on property there is no need to burn gas driving around to have a nice lunch or dinner at an affordable price! Spring Fitness Programs!

Brunswick County Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with The Winds Resort, is offering four great fitness classes. The classes are open to the public. Guests of The Winds Beach Resort can participate in two of the four classes for free!

TENNIS LESSONS at Ocean Isle Beach Park (Five minutes from The Winds) $30/hour private rate, Semi-Private Group Rate: $40 for 3 people. $5 /each additional person per group

AQUAZUMBA Free to Winds Guests! Mondays & Wednesdays April, 30 through September 26th Time: 8am-9am The Winds’ Outdoor pool (weather permitting). This is a “pool party” workout for all ages. You’ll learn safe, effective and challenging water-based workouts that integrate the Zumba formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness disciplines. ========================================

In order to make your time at The Winds the perfect getaway you’ve imagined we have come up with several ideas that you may want to add on to your stay. We offer Weekly Beach Chairs & Umbrella Rental (setup and removed from the beach daily), tours of a local winery, off and on-site massages, kayak tours, and rounds of golf and many more options.

The best golf value at the coast is at The Winds Resort! With rates that include a full hot Southern Breakfast Buffet each day there is no better golf value around!

We’re talking free green fees for all Winds’ guests on a selection of top area courses. All you pay in, addition to your regular lodging rates, is carts and tax. Courses include: Azalea Sands, Brierwood Golf Course, Carolina Shores, Sea Trail Byrd, Sea Trail Maples, Valley at Eastport, Wedgefield. Also After 12:00: Brunswick Plantation

New Golf Packages!

Starting this year we have some new golf packages, including our Fairways of Old Georgetown featuring Sandpiper Bay, The Pearl and Sea Trail Jones course.  And don’t forget we’ve still got our Free Summer Golf, Winter Sizzler, Fall Fore Golf and March Madness Packages to accommodate your golf groups!

25th International Tee Party Tournament


Have you ever wished that you could experience the thrill and excitement of playing in the RYDER  CUP? Well here is your opportunity….The 25th Annual North Carolina International Tee Party Golf Tournament, hosted by The Winds Resort, is the world’s largest international team event.

Now in its 25th consecutive year this extremely popular week long Ryder Cup style competition is held on 5 wonderful area courses all within minutes of The Winds. The area is widely regarded as on of  the “best” golf holiday destinations in the USA

The tournament will take place between the 27th October – 3rd November 2012 marking its Twenty Fifth anniversary!

This Ryder Cup style event is a mixed competition for all handicaps and just 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach. A European Team of approximately 50 golfers will cross the Atlantic to challenge an American Team of the same number in a Ryder Cup style event in a mixed competition for all handicaps.

The Winds Helps Protect Turtles

For many summers The Winds has participated in the Sea Turtle Protection Program sponsoring nests on the beach. We’ve always asked our guests to participate in a contest to name the Turtles. We want your help in naming our “turtle” with a “Name Our Turtle” contest. We’ve put a form up for you to submit your suggested name. The Winner will have the honor of having named the Sea Turtle and will receive a free Winds T-Shirt!

We will accept entries through August 10th, 2012 and then have the Winds’ Staff pick the winner. We will post updates as to when and where our turtle comes ashore to dig her nest and lay her eggs! Click here to submit your suggested name for our adopted Sea Turtle.

Forgot To Bring Something? No Problem! Last summer saw the opening of our seasonal, poolside Tiki Shop. During the summer we learned a lot about what you want us to carry in the shop! We have suntan lotions, oils, sun block, as well as hats, visors and a selection of fun, colorful t-shirts. Need a camera? We will have those as well as various other items to make your day on the beach fun for the young and the young at heart.

With our Tiki Shop there is no need to get in the car and drive to the store! Our guests can find a variety of items to make their stay at the Winds fun and safe. Be sure to check it out on your next visit.

Events at The Winds

The events staff has been busy this winter and spring planning and preparing for a great spring and summer season. The resort will play host to over 60 weddings, elopements, vow renewals, family reunions, parties and meetings/retreats this year and we are already booking for next year!

Our events department is always expanding and looking for great ways to make your wedding or party memorable. This year our weddings will feature everything from chocolate fountains, cupcake towers, doggie ring bearers, steel drummers and more.  They are here to make your wedding dreams come true!
